Sealed-Battery Coverage

The factory-sealed, integrated lithium battery is covered during the 10-year Limited Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. If ChesGuard determines that the battery failed because of such a defect under normal residential use, ChesGuard will repair or replace the alarm in accordance with this warranty.

The battery is designed to provide up to 10 years of service under normal operating conditions; however, actual battery life may vary. Battery depletion, including depletion before the end of the 10-year warranty period, is not by itself considered a defect and is not covered.

Coverage does not apply to reduced battery life or failure resulting from:

  • normal aging or depletion
  • time in storage or improper storage
  • extreme temperature, humidity, dust, or other environmental conditions
  • frequent alarms, testing, warnings, or fault events
  • improper installation or maintenance
  • misuse, damage, tampering, modification
  • operation outside the instructions or published specifications

Remedy

If ChesGuard confirms a covered defect during the warranty period, ChesGuard may, at its option, repair or replace the product or defective component. A replacement may be new or remanufactured. If the original product is unavailable, ChesGuard may provide a comparable product of equal or greater value. A replacement product remains covered for the longer of the remainder of the original warranty period or six months.

Eligibility And Exclusions

This warranty is valid only for the original retail purchaser, is not transferable, and applies to products purchased from authorized sellers in the United States or Canada. Proof of purchase is required. No dealer, distributor, retailer, or other person is authorized to alter this warranty.

This warranty does not cover:

  • normal wear or depletion
  • cosmetic damage
  • damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, neglect, improper storage, handling, installation, maintenance, testing, voltage or current, or use contrary to the instructions
  • unauthorized disassembly, repair, modification, or alteration
  • events beyond ChesGuard's reasonable control, including fire, flood, hurricane, tornado, or other acts of nature
  • a product whose identifying markings have been removed or altered

How To Obtain Warranty Service

Do not return the alarm to the retailer unless instructed. Contact ChesGuard Customer Support at support@chesguard.com before sending the product. Please provide the model number, date and place of purchase, proof of purchase, and a description of the problem. ChesGuard may request the product for inspection and will provide return instructions. Products returned without authorization may be refused.

Limitations Of Warranties And Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, any implied warranty, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, is limited in duration to the duration of this Limited Warranty. ChesGuard shall not be liable for incidental or consequential damages resulting from a breach of this warranty.

Some states, provinces, or jurisdictions do not allow limitations on the duration of implied warranties or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so these limitations may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary by state, province, or jurisdiction.

Warranty Is Not The Same As Service Life

The warranty period and the service life of the alarm are two different things. The CG-GD1 reaches the end of its service life approximately 10 years after installation and the whole unit is then replaced, because the battery is built in and cannot be changed. The warranty covers defects in material and workmanship over that period. It does not extend the life of the alarm. Full figures are on the spec sheet.

Returns Are Separate

If you want to send an unused alarm back rather than claim on the warranty, that is handled under our refund and return policy, which has its own 30-day window and conditions.
